Happy Mother's Day
For Mother's Day, Abby and Jeremy took me to Palo Duro Canyon for a picnic. After eating our sandwiches, we walked down to one of the water crossings and waded in the water. Abby found the water a little chilly at first, but quickly adjusted and was splashing around before we got out. We also hiked one of the trails, with Abby carrying her snake killing stick for protection. Finally, Jeremy and I climbed up the side of the canyon a little way into a cave. Abby only got to go halfway up, which made her very sad. As she waited with one of us, she continuously tried to climb onto the next rock to follow the other. She definitely does not have my depth perception issues!
We hope the mommies reading this also had a special Mother's Day.

WalkAmerica

Before the walk
"Whew...I'm pooped!"
Sorry it has taken me so long to get these posted. I had a friend take these pictures and didn't get them until yesterday. Anyway, Jeremy, Abby, and I had a wonderful time at the March of Dimes walk last Saturday. Abby thoroughly enjoyed waving at all of the other babies and pointing out every dog on the path, patting her leg, and saying, "Do." About halfway through the walk, she decided that she was tired of her stroller and wanted to walk also. So we scooted off the main path and let her walk where she wouldn't be trampled. Then she rode on her daddy's shoulders for a while and ate a WHOLE banana. (There were rest stops where water, Gatorade, fruit, and energy bars were being distributed.) When we got to the finish line, Abby got down again and walked across all by herself. We were so proud. :)
In Amarillo, the finish line of the walk is actually at our miniature Six Flags (Wonderland Park). Therefore, they opened the kiddy rides and allowed participating families to enjoy the park for a while. Abby rode the carousel. She loved it; Jeremy and I, however, were half sick. Let me tell you...carousels are NOT meant for adults! Needless to say, Abby was happily exhausted when it was all over and konked out in her carseat before we ever got out of the parking lot.
I encourage you all to check out your local walk for next year, especially if you have children. It is a nice opportunity for the whole family to get involved in a charitable organization. Thanks again to all of our friends and family who contributed!
