Gotta Love This Kid!

It has been a pretty slow January around our house except for this crazy inpatient rotation that I am currently on in which every patient I choose to follow, sadly, seems to take a turn for the worst and dies within 3 days. Trust me; it's nothing I am doing; they don't let me make any independent decisions yet.

Jeremy has been busily preparing for the arrival of the beloved baseball season in which the first official practice is Monday. Go Bulldogs!!

And Abby Grace...all there is to say about her is described beautifully by the pictures that follow. As this post is titled, "Gotta love this kid!"

Abby Grace is a huge fan of layering. A typical evening includes two pairs of socks on her feet, another pair for her hands, and sometimes a hat. On this particular night, she just went with panties over her pajamas. No worries--we keep our house plenty warm--she just likes to be extremely snug. And by snug, I really mean she apparently likes to sweat.

BROWNIES!!!

This picture was actually taken by Abby. She spends what seems like countless hours each day playing with her Little People and caring for her babies. It is amazing to watch as her imagination takes control as she often reinacts, sometimes with much embellishment, activities of our day. I am also amazed by her attention to intricate details at times. For instance, yesterday she worked for at least 15 minutes in an attempt to get all of her Little People in a bathtub (plastic basket) just precisely right. I think they all were supposed to be sitting upright, because if they fell over or weren't fitting, she would start over again.

Have I ever mentioned that being a mom is the best thing ever? Thank you, Abby Grace, for bringing such joy to your daddy's and my life!!

I Did Not

One of the blogs that I periodically view does what she calls, "I did not..." This is exactly what it sounds like. She tells of silly and sometimes horrible things she has done, but that she might not like to admit to doing. Recently, I have had a couple of these instances myself that I just can't help but share. So here it goes...

1) I did NOT address and stamp half of my Christmas cards only to realize that I had placed the stamp on the upper LEFT hand corner of the envelope instead of the upper right hand corner where it is supposed to go. (In my defense, I had slept a grand total of 2 hours the night before.)

2) This week, when Abby threw up in her school's parking lot just as I was about to take her in, I did NOT look around to see if anybody saw us and seriously consider still taking her inside. I really needed to be at my rotation that day. (We got back in the car and went home.)

So if you have any I did not's that you would like to share, please feel free to post them. I promise, I won't judge. How could I?

Christmas and Such

I'm a little slow, but here are a few pictures from Christmas.

Santa came through with Abby's complete wish list (see previous post), including a red kitty. Well, it was actually a toy calico kitty with a red ribbon around its neck, but Abby loves it just the same. Another item on the list was a toothbrush. She has told me since Christmas, though, that she wanted a toothbrush for her baby rather than a toothbrush for herself. Maybe next year.

Let me introduce you to Bitty Baby, whom Abby has named Liz. She is thrilled with all of Liz's stuff, but most of all, she is thrilled that they have matching pajamas.

I should add that my parents' dog, Jack, ate the cookies before Santa could get to them, but we put more out before Santa's official arrival. :)
