7 year old statistics

(Pic from Abby's party at school on Monday)
Our "at home" statistics for 7 years old include a height of 49 inches and a weight of 51 1/2 pounds.  Abby was pretty sure she grew at least 22 cm from sun-up to sun-down on Sunday. I said how about 2 mm?  "No, I don't know millimeters yet." Ummmm...pretty sure you don't know centimeters yet either.

Birthday Party

Abby Grace turned 7 on Sunday! As is customary around our house, birthdays are not just days; they are weeks. In addition, they don't consist of 1 single party but multiple parties.  Here is Abby eating her birthday dessert from Chili's on Saturday night. She adores being the center of attention so standing in her chair and being sung to by the Chili's staff at a barrier breaking volume was right up her alley.
Before going to Chili's we had her official birthday party at Gymnastics Sports Center in Abilene.

(Piper and Breelee eating cupcakes)
The theme was Good Luck Charlie and like all good mothers I didn't take a single picture of the decorations. I will surely remember them because those things can't be bought.  Abby designed and planned everything; I made them.
(Madison climbing the rope with the reward of falling into a giant pit of foam seconds later)
There were countless activities: climbing ropes, foam pits, extra springy trampolines, balance beams, uneven bars, and mats to slide on.

Other birthday fesitivities included a grandparent party on Sunday, a school party on Monday, and a future birthday party with the baseball boys. I told you birthdays last forever at our house!

Side note: Wow! I forgot how hard these things are to write. This first post was rough!!

I'm Back, Jack!

After a year and a half hiatus, I am ready to blog again. Or at least I am ready to try again. No one real reason for stopping...just lots of little reasons....time, extended technology issues, burn out, etc.  Those issues (other than time) are now resolved. My goal...keep the blog current and periodically fill in the gap of the last year and half. Hope my 3 readers enjoy.

The Denim Jacket

The denim jacket serves many purposes.  It can stretch a summer dress into a fall dress.  It can add style to an otherwise plain outfit.  It can drive a child to tears because of a sticky tag under the arm (not today though).  It can make a 6 year old look 16.

Future Hamlin Pied Piper Cheerleader

Abby cheers at football games; she cheers in the car; she cheers in the bathtub.  She incorporates cheerleading practice into our playtime more times than not.  She teaches her babies how to cheer.  Abby Grace loves cheerleading!  And this year, we signed her up to cheer on the mini Piper cheer squad.  So if you need us on a Saturday morning, we can be found on the football field cheering on our powder puff football team.  Except that I honestly don't watch much of the game...the girls are way cuter!!

1st Day of 1st Grade

Ready for a new school year!

Her teacher is Mrs. Byerly and the theme for the classroom is monkeys. Pretty fitting since Abby is part monkey part cat.

Memorable moment:  On the 4th day of school, Abby was sent home sick.  After a short rest, she was perfectly normal again.  Hmmmmmm.  A few days later, I ran into Mrs. Byerly.  She commented that the year was going really well so far but there was so much to learn in 1st grade.  She said that the day Abby got sick had been a particularly full day.  Abby had been bouncing along, answering questions, when all of a sudden, she just zoned out. She had processed all she could handle for one day.  Needless to say, they slowed down a little after that.
