First Bicycle

For her birthday, Abby received her first "real" bicycle. I had been anticipating her reaction when she got it, expecting her to squeal with glee. Instead, she squealed with glee over Liz's new swimsuit and basically just accepted the bicycle...until she realized that Liz can ride along also. So today, (now that the monsoon has ended) she, Jeremy, and Liz all went for a very long bike ride through the neighborhood. And they tell me Abby only fell twice, one time in which the bike stayed up and Abby just fell off. Really?!? It has training wheels. Maybe we'll be shopping for a helmet next. :)
Oh, and the only thing more fun than getting your first bike is buying your child's first bike!!!

Rock Garden

For the past year or so, we have led the neighborhood in front porch decor with a classy and growing collection of rocks and sticks on our front porch. Last weekend, I encouraged Abby to sort through her collection and pick her favorites to keep, allowing her to plant a rock garden in one of the front flowerbeds. And below is the final product...

Yes, that is a stick. And now we are leading the neighborhood in landscaping.

Easter 2010 Recap

This year, Abby chose a cool tie-dye egg decorating kit. When it came time to actually dye the eggs, though, she wanted them all solid colors, only allowing the final egg to be mine and to be tie-dyed. Bottom line...the plain jane kit would have been quite sufficient and much less messy, but also only half the fun.
The Easter bunny arrived at our house bright and early on Sunday morning. He hid a whole basketful of eggs for Abby to find and left a basket of goodies too.

Too bad there can't be an Easter egg hunt after church every Sunday. Abby did not find the golden egg but she definitely came home with another load of eggs.

Finally, we joined some friends for an Easter egg hunt at Range Riders.

So you can do the math. 3 Easter egg hunts = 3 months worth of candy which might make it 3 weeks at our house...

American Girl

Abby Grace and Liz got to visit the American Girl Doll store and cafe last week. If you read the blog regularly, you know that Abby loves her babies like no other so this was a real treat. Of course, since Bralynn is equally loved, she also got to go...but I really felt a tad sorry for her, because other than lunch, she was pretty much tossed to the side for the excursion.

We were incredibly lucky to be there the day we were because they were less busy than normal and we were able to eat lunch without prior reservations. Aren't the booster seats for the babies just adorable?

Abby's yummy food. Mom and I were afraid that we would have to eat peanut butter and jelly but they had excellent adult entrees also.

After we had our food for a few minutes, our waitress returned with entrees for the babies also. Liz and Bralynn each received a petite muffin with sprinkles on top served in equally petite bowls. With this, Abby dropped her food like a hot potato and proceeded with taking care of her babies. She alternated between giving them a bite and taking a bite herself so that their food actually disappeared.

After lunch, Abby and Liz did a little shopping.

Thank you, Gran (and Pop) for the early birthday present!

Baseball Helper

Abby loves to help Jeremy with the baseball field. On this particular day, she helped "paint" lines in between games.

Cousins

During Spring Break, Abby's cousins, Kelsey and Braleigh, came with DMama and Uh for a couple of days. Abby had a super fun time hanging out with the "big girls."
