Before I can fully explain, you need a little background information. Earlier in the summer, Abby named her pacifier..."Red." It is actually pink but that is beside the point in her opinion. Since then, it has taken on an animate personality. In fact, Red got put in time out the other day because he wasn't where he was supposed to be during dinner. Where he was supposed to be, I'm not sure, but the floor was not the right spot.
And as far as Abby is concerned, Red is the ONLY paci. She will only use the others if Red can absolutely not be found after an hour of searching.
Tragically, this morning Red was accidently left at Wal-Mart (quite possibly abandoned in the produce section in the little plastic bin of pinto beans...GROUSE!) Upon arriving home, Abby frantically started searching and asking to return to Wal-Mart to find him. To make matters worse, with a little (okay, a lot) of encouragement from Daddy, Mommy helped the emergency pacifiers disappear also. So Abby is officially pacifier"less."
Naptime was horrible; she yelled and cried and fought...pleading for Red. But she is awake now and seems okay, traumatized, but okay. And if you are interested, Mommy is a little traumatized also because she is convinced that next week Abby will be starting college.
In other news, Abby has managed to potty train herself in a matter of 6 days. Really, we had been working on it for several months with no pressure, but when she burned her feet we had basically stopped trying for a while. Then, 6 days ago, we put her in panties one morning and she has stayed essentially dry ever since. She has even made it through 5 of 7 naps and numerous errand outings. YAY Abby Grace!!!
